Fiction Writing: Exploring the Reality of Imagination In this workshop, you'll be reading the works of your peers and giving/receiving thoughtful critique in a group setting. The goal is to always foster a safe and positive atmosphere where every student feels supported and encouraged in their writing. You'll also be having one on one sessions with me so that we can really dig deep into your project! And we will do some fun writing exercises as well. We want my Loafers to finish the program with a better sense of direction in their pages and deeper connection to who they are as a writer.

Poetry Writing: Naming the Unnameable through Lineation and StorytellingPoetry’s tools are myriad: figurative language, symbolism, voice, meter.
In this workshop, we will read your work side by side with examples from various historical poetry movements, to examine how the authors deploy their tools. In addition, we will employ writing prompts that experiment with lineation (line breaks, stanza breaks, enjambment), along with traditional storytelling elements, to reveal the (often difficult) emotions behind our writing selves in ways that surprise, delight, or astonish readers. Mixed Media Writing: Drawing out our Truths in Words & ImagesWhether through comics, manga, graphic novels, picture books, or beyond, words and pictures combine to tell dynamic stories that draw in readers. You don’t need to be a master illustrator to take advantage of this workshop that will help you develop your creative voice as a visual storyteller.
In this workshop, you will create a combination of short-form projects that allow you to explore different art styles and genres of stories. Some basic art supplies will be provided and no limits will be placed on what kinds of art you gravitate toward. Workshop Leader
